Happy Valentine’s Day Week ya’ll…yes that is right…let’s celebrate LOVE all week long!

Is there any better way to start out than warm, sweet banana bread? I find myself focusing on meal solutions with the recipes vs. treating the family to a little sweetness once in a while. Well that all stops now because this week we are treatin’ out.

This slightly dense, yet moist banana bread will satisfy the tastebuds for breakfast, lunch or a dessert. Have a little room temperature butter at the ready and top it off just like grandma does.

Chocolate Chip Banana Nut Bread

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2/3 cup sugar

3/4 stick butter, at room temperature

2 large eggs

3 ripe bananas, ripe

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup crushed walnuts

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a loaf pan –  set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon – set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, beat together sugar and butter until fluffy. Add in eggs, bananas and vanilla, beating until smooth.

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in 3 parts, mixing until smooth after each addition. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Pour batter into your greased loaf pan and bake for about 1 hour until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes in pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
