While I feel summer & fall are the best time to do apple chips because the fruit is more in season, I do think it is important to get a little taste of heaven right in the dead of winter. What a great way to ditch the oily potato chips and sprinkle these on your plates for a much healthier option for you and your family.

This process took me a couple times to nail down the precise thickness to achieve a crunch, not soft, chip. A dehydrator would be your best bet for this, but can easily be achieved right in your oven.

So let’s get to it!

Crunchy Apple Chips

~ 4 apples (any kind you would like) sliced 1/6″ thick

~ 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat Oven to 200 Degrees F.

Slice Apples into ⅙” Approximately (use a mandolin if you have one)

Place apples slices in a single layer on a sheet pan fitted with Parchment Paper. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon.

Bake in the oven for 1½ hours. Flip them over so the other side will crisp as well

Bake for 1 more hour. Turn oven off and leave the apple slices inside for a few more hours or overnight

When they are ready, place slices in a zip top bag
