Need a simple, unique and tasty appetizer to bring to your holiday gather? Of course you do. You might think to yourself, really…celery salsa…but trust me it is a crowd pleaser.

We all have a lot on our plates during this time of year so simplifying the food list makes us all breath a little easier. Although easy is better, you don’t need to sacrifice quality and taste. So spring for the delicious olives at your local shop and the baguette at your downtown baker.

Green Olive & Celery Salsa

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 lightly smashed garlic cloves

1 cup finely diced celery (3 ribs)

1 cup finely chopped pitted green olives (5 ounces)

2 tablespoons drained capers, chopped

2 tablespoons chopped mint

Freshly ground pepper

In a small skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add 2 lightly smashed and peeled garlic cloves and cook over moderate heat until golden, about 2 minutes.

Let the oil cool, then discard the garlic cloves. Transfer the oil to the bowl that is filled with all the other ingredients.
