A farm fresh cheeseburger…now doesn’t that just sound amazing? All I want to do is throw the patties on the grill, but I don’t think we are quite ready. However, in the spirit of spring, let’s still rock these burgers for our meal. It is pretty simple actually…I am merely taking all the wonderful foods in life and piling them between Little Rooster’s hamburger buns.


Not a huge fan of beef or turkey, but still want to partake in burger land. Easy peasy…load up your buns with everything BUT the beef patty. Use the sauté recipe below as your veggie burger if you wish!

* Graham’s organic 1lb ground beef or Duerksen ground turkey (whichever you prefer)

* Creswick Farm bacon

* Grassfield’s organic gouda

* Little Rooster’s hamburger buns


Bacon Cheeseburger

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 10-15 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes


2 packages Graham’s organic 1lb ground beef or Duerksen ground turkey

1/4 cup milk

3-4 dashes hot sauce

2-3 dashes worcestershire sauce

Salt & pepper

1 tablespoon softened butter

1 package Little Rooster hamburger buns

1 package Creswick Farms bacon (cook to crispy status)

1 package Grassfield’s gouda cheese

2-3 leaves green lettuce, washed and sliced

1 red onion, thinly sliced

1 avocado, mashed

8-10 grape tomatoes, diced


Place the beef or turkey into a medium mixing bowl. Add the milk, hot sauce, Worcestershire, salt and pepper. With clean hands, mix the meat well. Set aside.

Next, slice the rolls in half and spread each half with some softened butter. Place the rolls face-down on a skillet over medium heat. Lightly grill the rolls so they’re nice and golden. Let the rolls cool on a plate until you need them.

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter. Form the beef mixture into 6 patties and place in the skillet, in batches if needed. Allow each to cook about 4 minutes on the first side, flip them and place a slice of gouda on to melt.

While burgers are cooking, mash your avocado. Add the chopped tomatoes and a little salt & pepper.

When the patties are done in the middle, place them on the base of the halved buns. Top each with 2 pieces of the bacon, lettuce, onion and avocado mixture.

Vegetable Saute

Servings: 4

Prep: 10 minutes

Cook: 10 minutes


1 tablespoon olive oil

1 garlic clove

1 small onion, diced

1 head broccoli, chopped

2 zucchini, sliced into rounds, then halved

4 leaves kale, sliced

Salt & pepper to taste

Red pepper flakes to taste


Heat up medium skillet with olive oil. Add garlic and onion, sauté for 3-5 minutes or until tender. Add broccoli and sauté for 3-5 minutes. You will want to add the salt, pepper and red pepper flakes as you move along the sauté process, tasting as you go. Add in zucchini and kale and sauté for an additional 5 minutes.

This will keep your vegetables al dente, (still crunchy) which means all the nutrients will all be there.
