You heard it right…plum burgers are for dinner this week, with a little Jacob’s Acres side salad of your choice. If you have never added chopped plums to your burgers before, you will be delightfully surprised. Plums will add a nice amount of moisture, sweetness and a dash of tart at the finish.

Healthy wheat sandwich hamburger with beef steak served for launch

Ingredients

~ 3/4 pounds ground sirloin, at room temperature

~ 3/4 pounds ground chuck, at room temperature

~ 2 teaspoons dijon mustard

~ 1 garlic clove, minced

~ 2 plums, chopped

~ salt & pepper

~ 1 tablespoon butter (real), melted

~ lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, fresh basil, mayo

Instructions

In a medium bowl, add the dijon, garlic, plums, lightly knead the sirloin with the chuck and loosely form into 4 patties about 3/4 inch thick. Season the burgers very generously with salt and pepper and transfer to a plate lined with plastic wrap. Brush the cut sides of the buns with the melted butter.

Fire up your grill. When the fire is medium hot, oil the grate. Grill the burgers for about 10 minutes, turning once, for medium meat. Move the burgers away from the heat and grill the buns for about 1 minute, until toasted.

Serve your plum burgers with classic lettuce, tomato, onion, basil and mayo.
