Did you know that potatoes are apart of the “dirty dozen” fruits and vegetables that carry the most pesticides on the skin and then penetrate into the actual vegetable?

THE PROBLEMS WITH CONVENTIONAL POTATOES

~ information obtained from https://livingmaxwell.com/health-risks-conventional-potatoes

According to the USDA’s Pesticide Data Program, 35 different pesticides have been found on conventional potatoes.

And out of these 35:

– 6 are known or probably carcinogens

– 12 are suspected hormone disruptors

– 7 are neurotoxins

– 6 are developmental or reproductive toxins

So I would like to keep this recipe simple and just allow ourselves to enjoy a chemical free french fry.

French fries with sea salt over black background

Yukon French Fries

~ 1 bag potatoes, washed and sliced into fries

~ 1 tablespoon olive or coconut oil

~ sea salt + pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and cut fries into desired french fry shape.

Soak the fries in ice water for 10-15 minutes to remove some of the starch and pat dry.

In a bowl toss the fries with your oil of choice. If you go with coconut oil make sure it is melted. Sprinkle the fries with salt and pepper and toss again until fully coated.

Place wire cooling racks on a cookie sheet and arrange the fries so they do not touch each other.

Bake for 25-30 minutes. They should be evenly baked, crispy and ready for major yummy consumption.
